John got into
music in grade school in the choir... with a couple years of piano
lessons... the musical journey was started. At 14 formed the 4 J's (3
John's and a Joe)
where the members and name existed before deciding who would play what
instrument. Rhythm guitar was decided for John and a trip to Sears to buy
gear and the band had direction. Played high school dances and a few outside
gigs through high school years. After graduation, a friend playing in a R&B
band extended an invitation to play bass. Some borrowed equipment, a few
practices and the band was playing "soul music" in clubs on the west side.
Getting drafted and a trip to Germany introduced John to many musicians. Jam
sessions and a gig here and there making the Army tour a bit easier to
digest. In the early 70's the Ivory Cook band was formed with Bob playing
guitar and a couple friends which took us through our long haired years...
playing rock in east side clubs and weddings.
John played continuous in several bands over the years.
After a foiled attempt to start a new band in early 2008, John was
introduced to Patrick. The Rhythm 21 band was looking for a bass player for
some upcoming festivals in 2008, John answered the calling and the rest is
history...
